Brake Lamp Question

I have 94 Accord LX that the dash indicator light for a blown tail light will co on when its cold outside, about 45 deg or lower. Once the car warms up I can shut the car off then start again and the light will not re illuminate. This is not the park brake/ low fluid indicator. Any ideas?

Park the rear before a reflective surface (white garage door will work) so you can see if the brake light is working or not in those two scenarios. Or ask someone to observe it.

I got the brake light notice a couple weeks ago on my '92 and replaced two bulbs. One bulb was out and one looking bad - almost like they'd been in there a long time / original issue?

I checked both bulbs and they are working even when the dashboard indicator is lit. The problem is the indicator light only comes on when it is cold (45 deg or lower).

That warning lamp comes from a module that compares the wattage from side-to-side. If one side has more corrosion in the socket, or a bulb that is starting to go bad but still lights up, the wattage will be different and set off the warning lamp. So check & clean both sides, & maybe put new bulbs in both sides so they match.

It could also come from corrosion or loose connection at the little module that does the comparing. I think it's in one of the lamp clusters, but I don't remember which side for 1994.

Thank you. I will check that this evening.
