Brake light

My 93 accord se has jst started to give me an intermittent brake light. Not abs light. What are the possible causes of this so i may figure a proper way of fixing this issue. Thanks.

RE: Brake light

Low fluid or e-brake on just a little bit are the most common causes, make sure the e-brake is completely off and check your brake fluid level... cheapest and easiest things to check/try

E-Brake is all the way down. Brake fluid is a little low. Im changing rotors this weekend so i dont want to add any as i will bleed out all the old stuff. Are there any other possible causes other than what is listed above? I hate seeing any dash light on that shouldn't be on just in case it's anything else. Thanks.

if the brake system is leaking fluid it could cause it as well.... if you are planning to do a brake job this weekend anyway, you should have some fluid on hand and I doubt you'll use all of it, I'd just ad a bit to bring it up to it's normal level and see if that resolves the issue, if not then you can troubleshoot/repair the brakes all at once when you do the rotor job

The other reason for it is a sticky float switch in the brake-fluid reservoir. The float switch shouldn't trigger unless the fluid is actually low (not "just a little").

Do your brake job & then fill the fluid. If it's still a problem then unplug the wires to the reservoir cap (as diagnostic).Sometimes the filter/screen/basket in the reservoir gets warped &drags on the float. If that doesn'tfix it, then get a new reservoir cap/float/switch.

I put new rotors and pads and my brake light went off. pads were so low that it almost made the master cylinder go dry, but went up after new pads went on. Also, I noticed the passenger side halfshaft had no abs ring so i replaced both and now have abs. Thanks to all who contributed.
