brake light switch

The brakes on my 2015 Accord keep locking up on my rotors. I purchased the extended warranty when I purchased the car new. I took it back to the dealership and they said it sounded like a caliber issue. After 5 hours, they called back and said the brake pedal switch was knocked out of adjustment they would adjust it $87.50. My question is, Can a brake light switch cause the brakes to lock up? I wouldn't think so. Also, if I go in reverse too fast, the brakes stop the car without hitting the brake pedal. Can anyone help me with this problem? thanks

I don't think the brake light switch would cause this problem. It could be the adjustment on the brake pedal push-rod.

Maybe unlikely, but the switch might have "locked up" in a way that prevented the pedal from coming all the way up when you aren't pressing on it. That could lock the brakes in the same way as a misadjusted push rod.

Still, won't your extended warranty cover it?

After reading your reply, I talked to the tech who worked on the car. He said the switch, somehow, the switch was bent downward preventing the pedal from returning all the way. He also said he readjusted the push rod. The brakes are working fine now. You were right on with your answer. Thanks! ps I have a $100.00 deductible on the warranty and the repair was only $97.97. Thanks again.

Thanks. It's always nice to know the final resolution. And it wasn't something more serious...
