Brake Pad squealing/wearing weird
 

So recently, my car was making scratching and screeching when I'd apply the brake at slow speeds. Over the last week they increasingly did this when I'd come to a stop. Me and my dad checked the brakes today and the driver's side brakes were pretty worn down. The inside one was almost worn down to the metal! and the outside one had a little more material. Worn about the same.

However, the passenger side ones had lots of material left on them. Is this indicative of a problem on the driver's side brake area? What should I check?

It may be a caliper problem and/or the caliper slide pins may not be moving smoothly due to corrosion and/or lack of silicone grease on them. Pull the caliper slider pins and inspect.

Redbull has it right. But if were me I'd just replace all pads and
check them again in 5K or 10K miles to see if issue comes back.

yea, my dad suggested it was the caliper too. We came home from a short drive and we could smell the brake in the garage.

Do you think it's safe to buy a re-manufactured one or should I go OEM?

As suggested, you can try pulling the slide pins, clean them, lube them and re-install.

If not, I'd get a friction ready caliper from almost any parts store.

The brake pads have metal tabs that will make a horrible screetching sound when the pads are nearly worn out. It might be as simple as worn-out pads.

Take off the wheels, open up the calipers, & take a look. If it's just worn pads, then you should still clean & lube the caliper slide pins.
