have a restriction in a/c on high side.compressor is good but going to change drier.where is the expansion valve,my luck under dash if it is think i could get by without changing it.

Iguess that you have diagnosed your restriction using a set of manifold gauges....You will need to replace the expansion valve if the compressor is pulling a vacuum or pulling the low sidedown under 10 psi while engaged. This isproviding therefrigerant level in the system is correct.

Don't waste your time and money just replacing the drier. It is very unlikely that a drier would be restricted and the expansion valve be clear.

Also, while replacing these A/C components, check your compressor discharge hose very closely. This hose has a reputaion of leakage around the crimps on the '95 - '97 Accord V6 units.

Finally, be sure to place a good strong 28" vacuum for 20 minutes on the A/C system before recharging. Evacuation is a very critical step (especially on R134A systems)in insuring that all moisture is out of the lines. Don't overcharge the system, and don't forget to check the evaporator drain hose...Make sure that hose is hooked up to the evap box and not obstructed or kinked.

Youwill almost certainly need to replace the expansion valve. No way to avoid this if you have extreme high side and very low (maybe vacuum or very low + pressure w/ quick recycle to compressor OFF).

When you pull the evaporator replace all the orings on the expansion valve, and temperature bias sensor. They tend to leak w/ age due to a white corrosion powder that distorts orings and causes leaks where brass is mated to aluminum.

AC work is some of most rewarding work, both financially and personally that I have done for myself. It's simple, but sometimes tedious, work, and basically same on every car built since the 70's, no matter what refrigerant is used.

Right tools and good shop manual are almost a necessity for AC repair. Download the 94-97 Accord manual from DIY Online Manuals link. I didn't know Honda sold a 2.7L V6 engine in 97 Accords. Makes you wonder why they ever developed a 2.5L 5-cyl. for Acura and 3.0L V6 for Accords. Maybe not their best engine?

Yeah the first V6 in Accords in the USwas the C27 in 95. Notice the name of my95 V6in my signature LOL. Sometimes I think the C27 was a "test run" doneby Honda that they actually sold to people before working out all the kinks.
