A/C belt squealing on '98 Accord after replacement
Year: 1998
Make: Honda Model: Accord EX Style / Body: Coupe 2D Engine: 2.3L I4 EFI So a while ago the A/C belt would start to squeal whenever the AC was turned on and it seemed to actually slip off completely because at some point I noticed it wasn't there. I recently had my mechanic put on a new one after I ordered the part: 1998 Honda Accord Bando Serpentine Belt - Buy W0133-1634186 Serpentine Belt Online At first everything seemed fine but the next day upon starting my vehicle that dreaded squealing returned though it would stop after about a minute. However, if I turned on the AC it would return but only at low speeds, particularly when I hit the accelerator. No issues with the AC while on the interstate. So I contacted my mechanic and him come out and tighten it. Seemed to do the trick but again the problem returned the next day. It is possible it's still not tight enough or is there perhaps something else going on? |
Its hard to say.
One thing you might want to do is mark the crank pulley with a straight line going from the center to an edge. Drive the car for a bit, then see if the line is lined up. That pulley has a rubber piece in the middle that could break. You may want to check the alternator pulley as well. |
Thanks
Also, I talked to my mechanic and he thought there's some chance it might be the compressor. Based on what I've described, does anyone view this is as a possibility? |
