If it is not too hard to do, I would try installing the old sensor. Sometimes you get bad parts that are right out of the box.

I unplugged the cps and tried to start the car and it still has the same symptoms. No cel, no battery, and it won't start but it'll crank.
|
There is a fuse box under the driver's dash. Did you check those fuses?
|
well if it worked before the part change, it is obviously the part. swap pback the old part.
double check you put in the right part and double check your work |
I checked pretty much every fuse in the car. I'm going to remove the new sensor and install the old sensor and see if that works.

This is based on my TSX shop manual, but it might work on your accord too. There is a self diagnostic function if you are having problems with the battery light among other things.
It is worth trying and not hard to do. 1. Push and hold the trip/reset button. 2. Turn the headlights ON. 3. Turn the ignition switch ON. 4. Within 5 seconds, turn the headlights OFF, the ON, the OFF 5. Within 5 seconds, release the trip/reset button, and then push and release the trip/reset button three times. If it goes through the tests (looks like there will be series of beeps and gauge lights turning on, etc), the mileage indicator on your car will indicate the result of the test. I will either show all eights (normal), or show error 1, error 2, or error 3 that may point you to the problem. It is worth a shot to see if this may help. |
anything is worth a shot, i'll give it a try. Thanks

I just tried what you mentioned and it didnt work.
|
Have you tried disconnecting the battery and reconnecting it?

The problem with DIY stuff on newer cars is that some things require the very expensive HDS to do certain items.
Is your car still under warranty? If you plan on doing more DIY stuff, I would download an 08 shop manual. I recently bought one on Ebay for $22 from automanualsource. I could download it immediately as a pdf once my paypal payment went through. It is well worth the investment. I'm sure you did this, but recheck the area where you did the work to see if you forgot to plug something back in, or bumped something loose. Also, maybe try another key for your accord? |
