Default Can I get a decent motor for £3K

Hi,

New here. Was looking at Octavia and Mondeo estates. Someone suggested Accord which I had not considered.

Really like the look of the Tourer, esp the Executive model. Have seen nice diesel, 56 plate at £7K but decided not to finance and buy for cash instead. I'll have about 3 grand by September. Can I get a decent Accord at this price?

Looking for a Diesel estate. Will be doing 99% motorway miles.

Also, what are the Accords best and worst points, what should I look out for when buying? Any big service items? Any common faults?

Thanks

Rick.

Hello Rick and welcome to the forums.

There are not too many European members here but I will try to help you the best I can. After all I do watch Top Gear so I do speak a little British

Here in the States you could get a decent accord for around $5,000 which is a little more than 3,000 pounds.

The Accords here were never offered in diesel so I can't attest to the reliability of it. I also do not know if the estates, or station wagons as we call them, were the same body style as over there.

What years were you looking into? I would imagine in the 95-00 range.

Thanks.

Decided to put my Accord dream off for a while because the one I really want (a 2007) is out of my price range until next year.

I was considering something like this but hopefully the 2007 with the intelligent cruise control and lane assist.
2007 HONDA ACCORD 2.2 I-CTDi EXECUTIVE DIESEL ESTATE on eBay (end time 16-Jun-11 16:08:29 BST)

I could prob pick up a 2002 for £3000 / $4800 but I think i'll wait until i've enough saved and get one similar to the above.

Thanks for your reply and I may be back in 6 months or so!
