Car keeps overheating
I have a 97 accord SE, it keeps boiling over. i just then drove it around my drive way (it was cooled down when i started) for about 10-20 minutes i pulled back up and steam was rolling from under the hood, temp gauge was even below normal and its not hot outside, it drove fine and it started up normally, its done this 5 times already within the last week there was never any performance changes, i even added water earlier today. the worst time it over heated was a year ago the gauge was red before i noticed and i had drove it 50 miles before it overheated. i have only seen the pass. side radiator fan work. and that one stays on when i pull the key out,

Coolant boiling over could be from a radiator cap that looses its seal. It could be from a leak in the cooling system. Bad thermostat. Possible head gasket problem. Clogged radiator.
When the engine is warmed up, are both radiator hoses hot? The upper one carries the hot coolant, but the lower radiator hose will be cooler, but still pretty hot. Be careful and don't burn yourself. Some auto parts stores have a radiator pressure tester as a loaner tool. Call you local ones to find out. See if the radiator can hold about 15 psi pressure. You can also test the radiator cap as well. |
well the steam and liquid comes out from the overflow bottle, not radiator cap

The boiling coolant has to be coming from the radiator in the overflow bottle.
The radiator cap does a lot of things. The radiator cap allows coolant to go into the overflow tank. It also allows coolant to enter the radiator when it cools. The radiator cap also keeps the coolant under pressure, so it can be heat over the boiling point of water at atmospheric pressure. |
so is my engine actually over heating cause the temp gauge is normal

The block is not heating up according to your gauge in the car.
This is a problem you need to fix, because you will probably lose coolant and cause an overheat at some point. |
