Car Key Question...
 

Ok I lost my keys this weekend (thank goodness we have a train system). Unfortunately for me that was the only key I had to my car. I got a backup key made awhile back, but it doesn't have a chip in it so I will not be able to start my car. I need a key that can start my car, the only resolution i've been seeing is to tow my car to a dealership and have them make me a new key and reprogram it :(. This is going to cost me roughly $200, which is not what I would like to spend $200 on, that my bday is coming up. Does anyone know of any other possible ways to get a key or go about this? Thanks

Call around to some locksmiths, I believe some can make a key and program the ECU for the immobilizer for your generation Accord. Since you may want to get several more keys cut and programmed at the same time to avoid having to do it again if you lose a key, it probably will still cost a little bit.

i did also find out that my insurance will cover up to $100 of whatever the cost is...

they sell the parts at a low price but don't program or cut the key.

This key requires cutting and programming by a dealership or locksmith. the procedure takes only a few seconds to complete and many dealerships will do it for free as a courtesy. If your dealer does charge a fee, local locksmiths usually charge much less to remain competitive...
