RE: CAR WONT START PLEASE HELP!!
hmmm..
1.did you touch anything other than the plugs while you were working on it? 2.was the plugs tight enough? 3.make sure all the high tension wires are in their proper place ( firing order )and properly secured both ends - from the distributor up to the plugs 4.whats your fuel level? :) |
RE: CAR WONT START PLEASE HELP!!
i changed the spark plug wires but then i returned them, i tightened the plugs, the wires were secured, and i have plenty of fuel.

No such animal as a DX FI
only the LXi had fuel injection |
RE: CAR WONT START PLEASE HELP!!
that brings an interesting point... is this a carbed vehicle by chance then?

RE: CAR WONT START PLEASE HELP!!
oh its carbed my mistake. I recently found out that when i took out the new spark plugs, some of them werent black just covered in gas. Think my distributor is out?

RE: CAR WONT START PLEASE HELP!!
If it was running when you put fuel down the throat then it's probably getting spark, I'd put a timing light or a tester on there and make sure that it is getting spark. Are your wires in the proper firing order? There is also the possibility that a float got stuck and it's flooding or a needle is stuck.... lots of different possibilities, but since you've already found out that it's getting fuel, test for spark, if it's getting spark then check your firing order, are you 100% certain that your plug wires are on in the right order?

RE: CAR WONT START PLEASE HELP!!
yea the firs one to the left of the car is number 4 right, plus i put them in order by length. How do i check to see if its getting spark?

RE: CAR WONT START PLEASE HELP!!
if you have a timing light you can use that to check for spark, or pull one of the plug wires off and use a multi meter and see if it jumps, or just hold onto the wire really tightly and have someone turn the car over and see if it shocks you, it stings a bit but it won't hurt you (yes I've done that....*L*)... The plug to the far left, near the distributor is #4, #1 is next to the timing belt on the drivers side... here's the distributor order, also make sure that all the wires are pushed on securely
