charging problems
hello honda people
maybe someone can help me 88 honda accord 4 cl the battery light came on when my wife was using the car the battery died so i bought a new one then that one died also so i bought and installed an altanator still have the battery light my next thing to try is going to be change the pos and neg wires from the battery? need help anybody thanks tom |

fuses under the hood yes not in the dash should i check the ones in the dash fuse box?

With a small cheapo volt meter you can check the Alt output at the battery cables, should be around 14 volt just after starting car, but not fall below 12.5 volt.
Your original Alt probably just needed a new brush pak. I've had bad luck with reman Alts from the parts houses, to the point of prefering a junk yard unit to the fun of swapping out the Alt 3-5 times to get a good one. Also the carbchoke might not work on the reman units because the rebuilder doesn't care about that 3rd wire. I think it's a blue/white wire that goes to the choke on the carb and also to the Batt lite in the dash cluster. The Batt lite in the cluster shuts off by way of equalized voltage. 12v+ and 12v+ = 0v |
