Cigarette lighter socket and stereo stopped working..

Hi I have a 1997 Honda Accord SE, (didn't know how to add the model to my signature)

My stepson yanked his i-pod power cable out of the cigarette lighter socket causing it to come loose, and work intermittently. It sparked once too. Then later I disconnected the inner ring of the cigarette receptical and the stereo turned off. Apparently they are on the same circuit? I checked the fuses under the dash and on the left side of the drivers side kick panel fuse box, but found on blown fuses. Not sure what else to do. I'm gonna borrow a circuit tester from work tomorrow. Is this a common issue? Weak cig. lighter sockets? Any advise or Ideas? Thanks Fellas.

There is a common fuse that is likely blown. Take a look in your owners manual to see if it is listed. The fuse box cover should have a listing with descriptions as well.

You can also download the 94 shop manual from the online manuals thread in the DIY section. That will show you the location of the fuse.

Its most likely the fuse under the hood. Check fuse number 36, its a 15A fuse. The cigarette lighter and the radio runs on the same fuse.
It has blown on me once when I started the car with the radio on high volume and cigarette lighter charging my phone at once.

Good luck
