Clunking noise when driving over 50 and cruising below 30mph

Happy New Years everyone. I have a 1997 Honda Accord SE. All of a sudden today while I was driving from my parents to my place, I started noticing a loud clunking noise coming from the front left end of the car by the tire area. The noise was extremely loud when I let the car slow down naturally from 30mph to 0. I originally noticed the noise showing up when I was driving above 60mph and sometimes it would disappear but it definitely kept occuring throughout the remainder of the ride.
I was going to get my oil changed and get my car inspected tomorrow but now going to have them mechanics look at this issue as well but was wondering if anyone else knows of what could be the issue or if anyone had a similar issue.

Thank you.

Ball joints?
Steering tie-rod end (little ball joint)?
Pivots on inboard end of upper & lower control arms?
Radius rod bolts into subframe way forward from wheel?

Any of these things can get loose. Having your mechanic (or yourself if you know how) look at all those things is the only way to tell.

Could be something imbedded in tire.

Front End Noise

Also considered the CV joints especially if the noise increases while making a turn. Sounds like the same problem I had with my 1990 Accord.

Good Luck,
John

problems with cv axle on 1990 accord

I have a 1990 accord as well and was woundering what your symptoms where for the cv axles goin out? Mine began to pop when taking corners but before I decided to park it it began to make a really bad clicking sound when I was just driving straight over 20mph. Did you replace the axles your self or have a shop do it for you? I am having problems disconnecting the lower ball joint and lower control arm from the brake hub spindle so that I can have enough clearence to get the brake hub and rotor from out far enough to remove and replace the axle.

Front End noise

I found a great shop here in Las Vegas. I wanted both sides changed but they talked me into doing one @ a time. The Left side was replaced & I haven't had any other problems with the front end.
Cost......$210 & I didn't get dirty
