manual trans. fluid
ok, I'm looking in my haynes manual and it says that a 96 man. transaxle requires some special mix from honda, but the 94-95 ones take 10w40 motor oil. I would go check my owner's manual, but that is from a 95 model. Does anyone know what harm would become of my tranny if it had the 10w stuff in it? I've got what appears to be a leak on the top of the trans. case. I've had the car for 6 months, and haven't touched the tranny fluid yet, gettin info. first

RE: manual trans. fluid
When Honda started selling their 'genuine' manual tranny oil, they made it compatible with their older trannys which take 10w-30 engine oil. I imagine it should be compatible the other direction also.
After you get your leak fixed, you should probably use the Honda stuff.

I admit to not being very nice to my tranny, when accelerating hard through all gears, I do have a tendency to grind 3rd on occasion, with the capacity being 2 qts, I'll go ahead and front the extra money for the more expensive stuff. I know how I drive, and that's just the price to be paid the way I see it (sigh)

if you drain and refill it takes 3 qts ,, not 2 as you mentined ,, just put oil in the fill hole till it starts coming out ,

i think the all data also says 2 qts,,I have always tought it was closer to 3 qts to do a drain and refill...
to be totally honest i do not measure it, we have a 20 gallon drum with a pump attached to it so i put oil in the fill hole till it starts coming out ,,..
