Coolant recommendations

Any special recommendations on coolant? In the past I've just used the green stuff. I think that's what it came with.

As long as the "green stuff" is antifreeze, I think you're fine. I've not seen much difference in performance.

good luck

Newer accords use coolant that last much longer than the green stuff. I would use what Honda recommends for your car in the owner's manual. BTW, put your year model, etc in your signature, so we know what car you drive.

Opps, guess he didn't read your post on this one either.. :)

Most antifreeze problems come from mixing types that aren't compatible. If you rinse the system thoroughly so none of the old stuff remains, then you should be OK. The "green stuff" doesn't have the long lifespan of the Honda stuff, but if you change it properly you'll be OK.

It's there now!

Thanks.

I would use the green antifreeze. Use a 50:50 mix. Change at the recommended interval.

The reason I asked the year is that newer accords have the long life coolant and you can't mix it.

I used the green stuff in my 95 and didn't have any problems. I think that you are supposed to change it at 24K miles. Check your owner's manual to verify.
