Cooling Issues

Ok, so got my head on and running good, no heating or nothing. I left the car with no thermostat, I went to put a brand new one on today and I flushed the coolant and now the car over heats. My fans don't come on until I turn off the car, but when I turn to ignition they turn off, the fuse is fine, could it be the green sensor on top of the thermostat housing? Please any inputs welcome!

That sensor on the thermostat housing is the fan switch that's responsible for switching the fan while the engine is running. Sounds like it's bad, or the wiring is bad.

Unplug that & look for loose/dirty/corroded pins in that plug. Jumper across the 2 pins in the plug with a paperclip or piece of wire. Now when you turn on the key, it should make the fan run. If that works, replace the switch. If not, come back for more suggestions.

Ok, so jumped the connection, but both fans came on? Is that suppose to happen? I'll replace the sensor today and let you know later what happened.

Ok, just now my car gave me a Cel, code 3 I think that is a misfire, when I would give it gas, it would bog. Did a sensor get disconnected, I only took off the intake hose to get to the thermostat, what went wrong?

Yes, both fans are supposed to come on. By doing that, you just proved that all the car's wiring, fuses, & relays within the fan control circuits are all OK. That leaves a bad fan switch to be the only thing left.

Code 3 = MAP sensor - I'll look for a picture...

Code 3 is the MAP sensor shown as #21 here, on top of the throttle body. Disconnected? Broken/loose/dirty/corroded wires??

Well, the sensor is being a B!tch to me right now, I can't get it off because I don't have all the tools with me today. Idk, it just misfired on me really bad, =[

I'll brb let me go check this.

Ok, so I cleaned the sensor and now it's working fine, It does't bog when I give it gas. Good right, I am thinking I am going to run the car with out a thermostat. What can happen with out one? I only drive my car around locally. I just need to pass smog and get plates.
