crazy electrical problem
I have a 2002 Honda Accord coupe with the 4cyl.
I have been having a weird problem lately with my car. When I press the brake pedal a few weird things occur... -the turn signals (both of them) faintly light up on the outside and the indicators on the dash do as well- the lighting for the radio lights up Also, when my headlights are on, by brake lights do not work. In addition, when the brake is depressed, the turn signals do not work. The problem is somewhat intermittent, but is becoming more and more constant. Any ideas? I did some searching with no real answer. Please help! Thanks in advance! --Jeff |
RE: crazy electrical problem
It has appearance of significant ground fault (open or loose ground wire). Too many circuits affected for one supply line.
good luck |
RE: crazy electrical problem
x2 for bad grounds. When stuff that's supposed to be completely unrelated starts happenning together, bad grounds are a real strong suspect.

RE: crazy electrical problem
you might want to chk these grounds , make sure they are tight and clean,
g 401 above lft kick panel g 551 below driver's seat, below the carpet g 601 left rear of trunk, close to brake lite sensor chk these out and let us know .. |
RE: crazy electrical problem
Didn't see it posted here (directly) so I'll post it: remove your stop lamp bulbs and check them, make sure they are operational, and that the connectors are ok, no signs of water intrusion, or corrosion, or melting. A lot of times if a stop lamp bulb shorts out it can backfeed voltage through the rest of the lighting system causing all sorts of weird electrical problems.

RE: crazy electrical problem
Thanks guys for the suggestions! I have been out of town and just got back and am going to tackle this problem - I'll keep you posted on the results!
Thanks, Jeff |
RE: crazy electrical problem
Thanks again guys - it was indeed a bad ground. The ground bolt was loose near the driver's taillight. I ended up replacing it with a new bolt and it is good to go!
Thanks! Jeff |
