Cruise Control Adjustment

When the cruise control is activated, the car lags then engages, as if there is slack in the cable. Is there a way to adjust the cable or as it is called on my Harley, a cruise control lash adjustment?

yeah, the cable is adjustable. there are two cables on teh throttle. one goes to teh gas pedal, the other goes to the cruise control actuator. it's adjustable near the throttle. the spec is 3.75mm +/- .5mm. what this means is...according to honda(i would just measure deflection myself :D):

loosen the cable locknuts. rotate one of the nuts, this causes it to tighten the cable and eventually the engine speed starts to increase. as soon as the engine speed just starts to increase finger tighten the other nut flush against the bracket. nowloosen the nut on the other side of the plate 3.75mm +/- .5mm and screw down the other nut and tighten them. this will give you the specified play in the cable. that sounds sort of confusing...heh...but
take a lookat theadjusting style and let me know if it doesn't seem right. i'll post pics and diagrams, yay!
