"D" Light blinks
Hi. I have a 2006 Honda Accord Automatic, EX V6. While driving this weekend I noticed the "D" on the shift indictor on the gauge cluster was blinking. I pulled the car over, and checked the tranny oil, and I noticed the level was really high on the dip stick. So I then turned the car off, pulled the key out, and re-started it, and it stopped blinking.
Does anyone know why the "D" was blinking?

You would have to get the trouble code read if any to narrow down any possible transmission related problems.
Check the automatic transmission fluid at normal operating temperature. Park the car on a level ground, then shut off engine. Wait about 60 seconds (but no longer than 90 seconds), then check fluid level.

ok, thanks for the reply redbull! So the next time I notice the D light blinks I'll check for codes. Can I take the car to AutoZone, and have them hook up the scanner tool or no? Also, I always thought you check the transmission fluid when the engine is running. Is it different for this car?
One thing I been noticing is the time is takes to engage into drive once I shift from Park to Drive. It takes much longer than before. Is this something I should worry about?

You can go to Autozone, etc. to get the code read, there actually might be a pending trouble code stored right now.
Instructions for your car is with the engine shut off. The waiting of 60 seconds; but, not more than 90 seconds is even newer instructions.
It may be a problem if it takes longer to engage in drive. Check the fluid level and if you haven't had the fluid changed recently, consider a drain a fill with Honda's new DW-1 fluid.

I think thats where i went wrong. I did a drain and fill at Jiffy Lube back in April, and they didnt use the DW-1 fluid. I'll get it replaced this weekend (the right way), and hopefully everything will get better. Thanks!
Will do! I'm taking the car to a tranny shop to get the code tomorrow. The owner of the shop said changing the fluid may or may not resolve your issue. I'll keep everyone updated on the code I get.
Thanks.
Thanks.
So this is the latest updates. Took the car to a tranny shop, and the scanner tool is reading an issue with the 4th gear pressure switch. He didn't record the code number but it might be #42. He also told me that this might cost me around $210.00 to repair. That's parts and labor. Does anyone know how or why this would go bad? He says its a common problem.
