D4 light...

this car is a pos...

was driving and the speedo dropped then jumps back up back n forth.

tranny jerks between every shift, sometimes when i put it in drive it doesnt shift into 1st for like a second.

also when im merging onto the highway i have to let off the throttle some to get it to shift into over drive.

i pulled the codes. the D4 blinked 4 times the CEL stayed on solid.

im about to trash the tranny and swap in a 5spd. this slush box really bogs the car down

It may be your vehicle speed sensor (VSS), refer to link:

A code 4 is the VSS on the transmission. The strange thing is that the check engine light should give you a code 17.

You should do some tests on the VSS. The 94 shop manual that you can download from the online manuals thread in the DIY section will have links for you to download.

The 5th gen transmissions are pretty rock solid IMO. This sounds like a sensor problem to me and not internal failure of the transmissions (like the 98-02 accords). If you do a swap to a MT, you will have a lot more parts than you realize to change out.

Then after that, suggest draining the fluid, as many times as needed to get a nice "pink" color, and then check the throttle control cable for proper adjustment.

I've got 367K on the original trans, I think Redbull's "old" Accord (same gen) is over 300k.....they are pretty solid, IMO.

i will do what that link u sent me says.

does it matter if i pick up a 96 h22a 5 spd tranny? or does it have to be 92-95?

im rebuilding the VSS. when it asks for conducting greese, what is that? is it essential? i have my intake and everything taken apart as well as the VSS which is a p.i.t.a to get out.... took my like a hour to get it out

got the damn thing back together and put the sensor back in and it still does not work. i dont want to spend 130 dollars on a new one
