Default Daytime Running Lights

Hi all. New here and wondering if you can help.
My 96 has daytime running lights(cdn vehicle) but they don't work. I understand that the DRL's run off the highbeams, is that true?? Could it be the DRL relay?? Dealer tells me it's a module, will cost me couple hundred bucks, blah blah blah....
Anyone??
Cheers.

Couldn't wait till the weekend to look at it. I followed the procedure as shown and it's fixed. Thanks for the help, it wasn't as hard as I thought, just make sure the dash panel is removed before starting.

Thanks again.

Great that you got it fixed.
Just have a couple of questions.
Was your modulelocated near the hood release -where mine was in that photo? If so, why'd you have to remove the dash panel?

No, mine is actually straight up from the gas pedal in behind the instrument cluster. I could reach it without removing the panel, but there wasn't much room to get a grip on it. Once I removed the panel, things were much easier. The trickiest part of it was putting the module back in it's bracket.

Again, thanks for the help on this.
Cheers.

Thanks for the information. I assume you're taliking about that small, removablepart of thedash panelrightunderneath the steering wheel.

It seems verystrange to methat Honda would change the module'sinstallation location like that. Very un-Honda like.

It's nice to have those lights working properly without spending $200, isn't it.

Yes, it's the plastic molding that pops off right below the steering wheel.
Ya, still waiting for the reward from my wife that now gives her $200.00 more to shop with....

I see you are on the wife's rewards program too huh? Kind of like credit card miles except all of your returns go to the company head... *L*
