Defrost a/c fan engagement question

2003 DX 4-cylinder. 35,000 miles.

1.) I had to put refrigerant in a few weeks ago when I tried the a/c for the first time and realized it wasn't very cold (It's hard to make sure the a/c blows cold when you buy your car in the beginning of February!). A/C now blows reasonably cold.

2.) I've noticed that when A/C is on, or defroster, the fan kicks in, but it seems quick. It's about 7-10 seconds of fan, followed by 20-25 seconds off. 7-10 on, 20-25 off. I realize the A/C and defroster both operate in conjuction with the a/c compressor.

My question: Is this normal cycling? If not, is there anyone who has experienced this? Fixes?

If your A/C is a little cold then you might not have put in enough refrigerant. Its pretty hard to put in the right amount of refrigerant if you don't have a recovery/recycle machine or a vacuum pump and a scale. The A/C is suppose to cycle on and off b/c when the A/C gets too cold the A/C has to shut off so the refrigerant lines don't freeze. I don't know why your defroster keeps shutting off.

I have a 2005 accord and am experiencing the same on/off cycles you are with your ac/defrost selection. When your fan kicks in... do your headlights dim for a split second??? Mine do and its really getting to me. Every 30 seconds to a minuite the ac fans kick on which caused the headlights to dim. Very very annoying.

my fan cycles on and off with the compressor on my 98 and stays on contantly with my 94. I would guess that this is normal for the 1998+ cars in order to save drag on the engine?
