Disgusting Metallic Grinding Sound
Hi All,
New to Forum. Hoping you can help and give me advice. I have a 1998 honda accord 2.0 SE Auto. 57000 on the clock. Never had a problem with her until recently. It started the other day, and yesterday on a long run home from wales got progressively worse. When I steer to the right, even slightly, a horrible grinding sound occurs. This also happens when pulling to a stop or setting off from being stationary. The sound is very loud and sounds like metal scraping on metal. Please advise and forgive my general lack of mechanical knowledge. I love my Accord and hope to get many more years out of her. Just hope this is not a super expensive fix. Kind Regards, Adam. |
Only thing I can think of off hand is a wheel bearing.

I would advice you check on the c.v. joint on both side

My first guess would be the backing plate of one of the knuckles rubbing against the rotor.

^^^ my thought also.
But since you have pretty low mechanical knowledge, take it to a shop or Honda dealer. You'll be charged a diagnosis fee and a repair charge. If you were in the USA, rather than England, it would run $100 for the first and whatever for the second, guessing $300. |
