Distributor

I replaced my distributor today placing it in the exact (near) position as the old distributor. I started the car and everything is running beautifully. Would it still be beneficial to get the timing checked? I am trying to do this on the cheap.

Always worth a check, if you don't own a timing light-see if you can rent or borrow one. Fairly simple. If you have to pay someone to do this, I might just give it a bit and see if anything odd or strange comes up.

Cool. I'll give it a week or two and keep an eye on mileage and idle and see how it does.

The engine computer will adjust the timing, so you are probably ok.

If you search sGzxCCaxDjI on YouTube, it is a video on how to set the base timing. You have to short the service connector like you would to check engine codes to stop the ECU from changing the timing when you go to set it.

Some of the parts stores may even have a timing light as part of their loaner tool program, where you rent the tool for the price and return it to get your money back.
