DIY 60K Service Items on a 2000 Accord 5 speed?

Hi,

I just bought a 2000 Cpe LX 5 speed with 60K, what would be the on the service list besides air filter and oil change?

1) Coolant change? How to & what capacity?
2) Manual Tranny fluid? Which brand & what capacity?
3) Brake fluid bleeding? or can wait?
4) Valve adjustment? or can wait?
5) Timing Belt or can wait?
6) Spark plugs? brand & part#? too soon?

Congrats for the purchase! 5 speed man, i'm totally jealous. I'm looking at my haynes manual for you and here's what it states:

1) coolant -- every 30,000 miles or 24 months-- so yeah go for it. I used honda antifreeze and it's a cool blue looking color. Capacity is 5.8 quarts.
2) mtf -- every 30,000 miles or 24 months -- use honda mtf fluid. Capacity is 2 quarts.
3. brake fluid -- every 30,000 miles or 24 months -- what to use, dunno = (
4) valve adjustment i'd wait until u do timing belt
5) timing belt -- 7 years or 105k miles. Whichever comes first.
6) spark plugs -- 30,000 miles or 24 months...i'd take them out and see if needed. If needed use ngk pzfrsf-11 and oem wires. I just replaced mine with what is recommended and oem wires and the car runs fantastic.
7) cabin filter -- you don't have this on your list, but i just recently did mine and you'd be surprised how nasty that thing can get!!

Also, instead of just replacing the air filter, might want to look into a short ram intake. The thing sounds sweet, adds some extra pep, and is super easy to install..

Also, is this the same car you were looking at and the people wouldn't budge?

first of all is it a 4 cyl or v6 ??

#1 .. coolant , wait and do it when you do the timing belt and water pump ,,unless it is totally dirty,, and speaking of TIMING BELT looking at the age of it you should be doing it in the near future
# 2 .. manual tranny every 30k use Honda MTF or 10w-30 oil it takes almost 3 qts , you fill it till oil drips out of the filler hole ..
# 3.. flush the brake system ,, use brake fluid dot 3 or 4
# 4.. valve adjustment depends if it is a 4 or 6 cyl ,, if a 4 cyl do it ,,if a 6 cyl they are hydraulic do not need adjtment unless noisy
$ 5.. timing belt put money aside and to a timing belt kit,, ( water pump, seals, outer belts, )
# 6 ..use only NGK PZFR5F-11
# 7.. replace those cabin filters ( every year or 15k miles )
# 8 ..look at the air filter, if dirty replace ,,unless you go with the SRI system

Wouldn't it be a 4 by default since it's a 5 speed coupe? I thought 6th gen accords didn't have the 5 speed in the v6's.

Yes it's 2.3L 4 cylinder (they didn't make a V6 manual then).

Which is the best MTF that produces the smoothest shifting? Besides the MTF is there another gear box oil to change?

Go to honda for your mtf fluid. Don't know about your other question.

Other gear box oil? If you're thinking ofthe differential, NO. It shares the same oil in the same casewith the entiregearbox.

How nasty is your power steering fluid? There's no schedule, but when Honda says it never needs to be replaced, well... use your judgement. Honda PS fluid from the dealer is good. Don't use generic, butif you really don't want to use dealer fluid, make sure it says "FOR HONDA & ACURA CARS". It IS different.
