IF the SRS trouble light is on:
I would HIGHLY recommend going to a dealer, don't take advice on forums like this for your SRS system, go STRAIGHT to the dealer. (difference can be life and death)

The SRS being on means that the SRS computer detected a problem in your car. It stored a code that you would need to retrieve. It could be something simple like a seat belt buckle problem or something more serious.

You may be able to stop by an autozone and have them read the code(s) then post the codes on here. A code will start with the letter P and have four numbers (i.e. P1234) I am not sure if autozone will be able to read the SRS code, but it is free and worth a shot.

If they can't get a code, then you will have to take your car to a honda dealership to have the code read, or a shop that specializes working on hondas.

i took it to a regular mechanic with a scanner and it didn't give him a code.. I just called honda and they said it's $150 just to scan it... They also said some of the problems that cause the srs light are covered under a special warranty?? Anybody heard of this

There could be a recall, which is what they mean by special warranty(they created a special warranty to cover their recall and such)

Probably like the whole transmissions speail(they would go bad, so Honda put out a special warranty covering them up 100,000K miles)

Not sure, but its probably similar

Honda has a lifetime warranty on the seat belts. I would ask about what special warranty they are talking about.

"Special" warranty because it's separate from the overall car warranty.

US federal law requires long warranties on certain stuff. Seatbelts & airbags have always had their own warranty terms, far longer than the overall car warranty that everyone remembers. Read your warranty booklet - there's like 6 different warranties & some depend on where you live.

Honda used to have lifetime warranty for seatbelts, but it IS different over the years. More recently they backed down to the federal requirements.

My 2003 Accord had warranty on seatbelts AND AIRBAGS "for the life of the car".

My 2007 Civics have that warrantied for 15yr/150k miles
