dropping transaxle for a clutch change
 

Hello,
I am in the middle of dropping the manual transaxle on my 93 honda accord EX 2.2, I have everything unbolted and about ready to pull it. BUT, according to the Haynes manual I am using, it says to unplug, unbolt and pull the power steering speed sensor but don't disconnect the power steering hoses. From what I can tell the hoses are connected to the transaxle. Can anyone confirm if i should leave these attached?

I think they want you to remove the whole VSS assembly which has the hose connections. That thing doesn't have it's own number in the picture here, but it's over towards the left side of the picture on the end of the hoses.

If only I could figure out how that thing is attached. After removing 2 small bolts holding the sensor and then removing the sensor, I can only see one other bolt and it has a double / extended head (not sure of the proper term) and I have removed that. I don't see anything else holding it on. Gave it a couple raps with an extension and rubber mallet but its not breaking loose. If you have any other ideas let me know, thanks again.

Update - found a couple other post its called the "power steering speed sensor assembly", still not sure how to get it out.

I never had an Accord with that, & I can't even find a parts drawing showing it any better.

I did find a parts drawing on this formum from a couple years ago. Still did not help! Anyways, I just pulled the hoses and dropped the transaxle, put in a new clutch and now have to contend with a broken motor mount bolt in the transaxle - dang it. Even with the transaxle out, I don't see how to get that VSS assembly out - maybe its just really frozen on there - not worried about that anymore. Thanks for your help Jim.

It's a good excuse for getting fresh new PS fluid...
