I have a 1997 Honda Accord wagon with the 2.3 l single cam v-tec motor. On the dash is a knob marked E P S with 3 positions + . - It doesn't appear to do anything ? What should it do ???

RE: E P S +.- Knob on dash. What does it do?
I googled this and found out that on some Japanese models (??) that itis used to change the power steering feel. It is an electrical unit for the steering not hydraulic. What a trip!! I guess you have a Japan/Kiwi car mate.

RE: E P S +.- Knob on dash. What does it do?
That's tight.
It uses the state-of-the-art electrically driven servo for power steering assist. The servo is located near the brake master cylinder and is the biege coloured box in the photo on the left. Thus the engine will not have any power steering pumps attached to it. The driver is given an extra knob, labelled 'EPS', to customize the degree of power steering assist desired. |

Excellent ! ! You are quite correct -- it is a Jap import and everything adds up. I switched the knob tominus (-)last week and then forgot I had, as it didn't seem to do anything, but later noticed that the steering was much lighter round town and didn't associate it with the eps knob! ! Now I can have nice light steering around town and firm feel cruising. Many thanks.....
