Default ECU Issues

1996 Honda Accord 2.2 ECU replacement problem.I'm having CEL issues in Houston TX(THE RIPOFF AUTO CAPITAL OF THE WORLD!).After buying parts which the mechanic said I needed did not solve the CEL problem.I went(hated to go to)to the dreaded dealer! The Honda dealer said the problem was with the wrong computer for this car.I could not argue cause the car was purchased from a private owner which I can no longer contact(moved!)My question is how to buy a used computer in good shape for this car.The dealer said it would cost 700.00!!!bucks +Shipping. I thank you for your time & all help appreciated.

Check out car-part.com. You should be able to find a used one for $50 or so.

TSB shows ECU part numbers for different models of OBD2 5th Gen cars:

96 vs. 97 shouldn't matter, but DX/LX vs. EX does matter.
