EGR Valve disconnect

I have a 98 honda accord 4 cylinder.. the Check engine light reads an egr valve problem . Anyways..i replaced the valve with one from another honda engine..but the engine light still comes on.. Question If i disconnect the electrical plug from the valve will it damage my engine ? And if i did unplug the the cable will my check engine light come on after i reset the check engine light...

RE: EGR Valve disconnect

The CEL will come on if you unplug the EGR valve.

Search for cleaning the EGR ports, because they are most likely clogged.

I forgot the code.but it has something to do with the egr not flowing or something....Anyone know how much it cost to clean ports?

The no flow codes rarely caused by the valve. Clean out that port.
