Engine Casting Number

I just had my engine replaced, because I didn't change my timing belt. I was going to eventually replace it but never got to it and I paid for it. That is engine lasted over 360K miles. I replaced it with an engine with 75K miles on it. I need to know what year the engine was built. The casting number is 4302042/F22A1. Thanks.

RE: Engine Casting Number

Here is what Ive heard...

Take the first digit of the engine serial number (4 in your case).

Yourengine was originally installed in the 4th model-year for that engine. So now we have tofigure out what year was the first year the F22A1 was used. Anyone know??

A crate engine (say you bought a NEW engine from your dealer parts department)... would have zero as the first digit.

RE: Engine Casting Number

F22A was used in the Accord and the Prelude S, but the version with the A1 head was only in the Accord. I am pretty sure it was introduced in the 4th gen Accord (1990), but it could've been in the earlier 3rd gen (1986-89).
