Engine Malfunction
Hi,
This morning when I started the car, the malfunction light on the dashboard stayed on. In the manual it advised to open and close the fuel flap, which I did and the light still stays on. Is this serious trouble?? Have any one of you faced it before?? Please help. Thanks, Armado |
RE: Engine Malfunction
The best thing you could do is have the code read, to know what the problem might be.
Another thing you could do is put WHAT YEAR in your signature, there are MINOR differences between the 79 Accord and the 09 Accord. |
RE: Engine Malfunction
The car is a 2004 Honda Accord model DX. As mentioned the engine malfunction light is on and as per the manual, I removed the fuel cap and tightened. Hopefully this will resolve the problem.

RE: Engine Malfunction
There are a lot of things that can cause the check engine light to turn on other than a loose fuel cap.
You should stop by an autozone and have them read the code for you. Post the code on here (P####) and we can give you more info about the source of the problem. |
RE: Engine Malfunction
So, I went to the dealer and apparently the oxygen sensor in the emissions unit had conked out. Got it changed and my wallet is lighter by 400 Canadian bucks.
