Engine Rattling
Hey guys
The engine to my 1990 Honda Accord as recently developed a rattling sound in the engine, which is quite annoying and can be heard within the car whilst I'm driving. It sounds like there is a nut that has come loose and been trapped in a tin can to put it metaphorically. I have had a look through the engine but was unable to find any loose material and dont have the equipment to really lift the car up to have a better look. So has anybody ever had same problem or know of anything that it could be? Cheers |
RE: Engine Rattling
How many miles are on your '90? Have you ever had your valves adjusted or half you checked the valve lash recently? These engines do have a bit of valve tap more so when cold then when at operating temp.

RE: Engine Rattling
Check all the heat shields; exhaust manifold, catalytic converter, etc. for security. This can rattle and be very annoying.
Have timing belts been done? A failing tensioner could start rattling due to a dry bearing. If noise is from under valve cover, better check immediately as you may have something bouncing around that may eventually jam and cause a problem. good luck |
