Engine is revving lower and lower
 

when i first got this car as a fixer upper, it only revved up to 5200rpm and the redline is 6200. Now a few months later its only revving up to 4800 rpm. It acts like its hitting a rev limiter, and the engine shudders a bit right before it cuts out. Any ideas?

I'd start with checking for any codes?

All the tune up stuff is up to date?

Yeh did a tune up. the only thing i havent changed out yet is the fuel filter. The check engine light never comes on other then when i first put the key in the ignition.

I would still check for engine codes just to be safe. It is quick and simple to do. See the link in the common diy thread on top of the gen tech help forum.

There is also a link in that common diy thread for cleaning the EGR ports under the 94-97 accords that is a common problem.

Does the car sputter at high rpms in any gear?

I'll do that. It very very slightly weakens when i accelerate around 2000-2500 rpm but its barely noticeable. Like a slight hesitation in the acceleration. ill check the codes and get back to u

Humm, sounds like the egr ports would be a real good place to start.

havent checked the codes yet, but today the hesitation was really long. I floored it from like 2k in 2nd gear, it accelerated fine, then when i got to like 3500-4000 it just lost a ton of power, then went back to normal after that
