Exhaust pipe broke
It broke right behind (1/4 inch) where it bolts together, and I don't have any tools... So there is that huge lip in the way.. Is there flexible exhaust pipe I could buy? I was going to try to sawzall it off of there and reconnect it somehow (I have it wired up so that both pieces of pipe are back to being even now)
thanks :) |
Maybe you could bring it to a muffler shop and ask them to weld the break. I am not sure how much it would cost you but since you have no tools it really limits your ability to repair it. hope that helps some =/

Yeah having no tools is definitely a minus.. Like no tools At ALL?
If you have at least vise-grips or pliers, you could work your way and tighten the bolts on two C-clamps, using a piece of pipe to hold it together. May take a while but it might work. That would be 'rigging' it though. If you have like $10 any decent muffler shop should have no problem welding it for you, especially if you tell them that you have no tools or means of fixing it yourself. Good luck! - Nikita |
I have sockets, screwdrivers, things like that
I've never welded anything, but I was worried it wouldn't be weldable because it's a funny shape where it broke (looks like both pieces still match, but it's kind of a rounded lopsided tooth pattern).. then I'm thinking, hell, they can cut the pipe at both ends and weld a scrap piece of pipe in there That should cost what 15 bucks? |
I think I already asked this, but to be sure, getting rid of the CAT is OKAY in this car, right? It's original, probably not functional anyway, and I don't like them being on a car... Might I see any improvements by removing it? What do they sell for scrap wise these days?
I'm thinking platinum must be high as hell nowadays ??? |
If it's an original OEM CAT - it will be around $55 to get it scrapped depending on where you go a little more or less.
If it's a replacement CAT of a different brand NOT the OEM one with the car - you will NOT get more than $5 for it at the scrap yard. You'd be better off either keeping it or selling it for a little more to someone who needs it. - Nikita |
