F22B2 Compatability?
 

I have a 95 Accord LX with a F22B2 (I think). I'm needing to replace the engine and I'm trying to figure out what I can put in that will be plug and play. It's my understanding that 94-97 LX's all have the F22B2. Are they all interchangeable without any modifications? The reason I'm confused is in 96 all cars became OBDII compliant and I'm assuming the 96-97 F22B2 are a tad different for that reason; maybe an extra sensor or something. I want a direct fit, I don't want to make any changes to the new motor when I find it. Discuss!

Any 94 and 95 f22b2 motor will be a direct swap. The 96 and 97 f22b2 will need the distributor from your 95 accord. The 96/97 accord had two sensors moved from the distributor to under the timing belt cover. You will leave those two unplugged and get those signals from the 95 distributor.

Everything else is identical.

Thanks for the input. So let me see if I understand, if I get a motor from a 96-97, the only thing I need to swap is the distributor, everything else stays the same and has matching connectors to what the 95 has?

Yes.

There will be one four pin connector coming out from the timing belt cover that you will not have an electrical connector in the engine bay wire harness.

Thanks for the clarification. I hate looking for the other end of a connector that doesn't exist. Once I spent 5 hours looking for the other end of a connector on a Supra I had, turns out it was a connector for the automatic transmission; it was a manual.
