front suspension

On my 2002 Honda Accord 188k 2.3l
I have a squeaky suspension, especially when it rains. Any ideas whats causing it?

Noises are tough to diagnose over the internet. You said rain (water) makes it worse. When do you get the noise? Only when driving, turning, over bumps? Do you get the noise when you push on the engine to move the shocks?

The only way to locate the source is to find a way to repeat the noise when the car is not moving and locate it. Look for red dust (rust) at any part of the suspension that moves for direction.

There is a good ericthecarguy video on youtube that covers finding noises.

Just make sure you have the car secured on jackstands and keep your jack with some pressure as a backup when working under the car. Safety is important when working under the car.

I get the noise when getting in & out of the car and when turning the wheel while the car is mostly sitting and driving over bumps at a slow speed/10 mph. I'll check out the video on youtube as well

Since you can make the noise when the car isn't driving, its a lot easier.

Have a helper bounce the car - as if you were getting in or out. You kneel down around the front wheels & try to pinpoint the sound. You may be able to get close & look & hear where it's located without raising the car & actually getting underneath.

When you're actually sitting in the car yourself, the sound travels funny ways and sounds like it's coming from the wrong location.

If you DO have to get underneath, drive the wheels up on something like ramps. But make absolutely sure it's supported real good so it doesn't come down on top of you when your helper is bouncing it.
