Fuel Injector Install 96 Accord - Tips?
 
Anyone have any tips on installing fuel injectors into a non vtec 4 cyl on a 96 Accord?
I was removing them to clean and test and 2 were not shooting the jet spray and 2 were when I hooked them up to 12v and sprayed pressurized carb cleaner through them. Now I have ordered a full set to replace them and wasnt sure about a few things.

Are there any steps to take to re pressurize the fuel line? Kinda like how you would need to bleed the coolant if the Idle Air Control Valve were to be removed and cleaned?

Are the ports supposed to be cleaned out? I would think so but I wasnt sure if cleaning would cause trouble if things fell into the port.

And here is a pic of the cleaned off but not working too good injectors currently. I had taken each one off and cleaned and tested and then put new o-rings and spacers on and it runs horribly. So I am hoping the new set coming will help.

Once everything is back together, pressurize the line by turning the key to the II position, but do not try to start the engine. The fuel pump primes the fuel rail while the check engine light turns on for about 2 seconds for a bulb check. Repeat this 3-4 times to get the rail pressurized.

I'd definitely recommend cleaning that crap out of injector port. Try using a something plastic to dig it out, then dissolve the rest with carb cleaner. You want to avoid gouging the intake.

While cleaning it with a plastic tool, what it the debris and carb cleaner falls in? Does it cause damage?

You might try rolling up a blue towel, or a section of it, so you'r not dumping it straight down the port. When you're ready to move to the next, use a vacuum cleaner, or some compressed air to pull/blast the crap out. Add a light coat of oil to the "O" rings before seating the new injectors.

I'll try using a plastic utensil to slowly scrape and as I scrape have the shop vac running very close targeted with the narrowed adapter on it. Then do the blue shop towel soaked in carb cleaner swabbing and do that also with the shop vac going...just need to make sure it doesnt suck up the towel. And thanks for oiling the o-ring tip!
