Gas Fill Up

Hello Everyone, I'm new to owning a Honda and have noticed when I fill ER UP, After she clicks off saying the vehicle is full, I can put a lot more in the gas tank, much more than I'm use to. I've heard it's not worth it to put extra fuel in there after the click off due to evaporation. Just wondering what everyone else does with their Honda during fill up's.. I know it's a very basic issue, but just thought I'd throw it out there for a little discussion.

me personally I run it up till it "clicks" off then get it to the next round figure (unless I'm checking fuel mileage), it's not worth the risk of spilling it out the side to add an extra gallon to two for me...

Ifafter the first click your filling up any more than 3-5 seconds more there is a problem with your vent tube system. Theres no way that you should beable to put anything close to a gallon in afterthe first click with out somethingbeing mechanical wrong.

stop at the click,, if you overfill it ,it might damage some parts of the evap system

i fill up to the click and then stop, thats how you are supposed to do it. because after the pump clicks off that means the tank is totally full.

I'll take the opposite view. For the past 25 years I've done the 10 minute fill up and bring it up to the brim. I check mileage on every single tank and this is the only accurate way to do it the way I see it. Perhaps I've been lucky but I've never encountered one single problem by doing it this way. The cars I've owned, including the current one, accept 1.5 to 2.5 more gallons after the 1st clickand extend my range (slightly) on a long drive. Also I feel that my MPG figures are more accurate since it is filled to the same level every time. This has been with GM, Volvo, Toyota, $300 clunkers, you name it.

For what it is worth..........
