Gaskets and seals

I have had this car for about 2 years, and I've been having problems with seals failing on me. I am going through and replacing small oil seals as a preventative measure. I'm planning to replace the oil seal between the vtec and cylinder head. My thought is to take off the EGR valve to get access to the vtec bolts. My questions is, does the EGR valve gasket need a sealant? I don't really see it mentioned anywhere I looked. A related question is, are there gaskets that do not use sealants?

Thank you,

Menachem

That seal you're talking about is like an O-ring and does not take sealant. Kinda hit-or-miss because some want sealant, some don't & some only a little bit at corners.

Anything that looks like an O-ring sitting in a groove does not want sealant.

Valvecover gasket only wants a tiny little bit at the corners where the gasket goes over the camshaft.

Oil pan doesn't have a gasket. Use sealant by itself.

Use Permatex Ultra-Grey it's a good match for HondaBond sealant.

And the gasket for the EGR valve does not need sealant.
