Headlight Adjustment 95 Accord
 

Hello All:

What would be the best tool to adjust stock headlights? I have tried several flathead screwdrivers as well as two phillips. Does anyone have any tips on what you use or what a handy little tool is for this job?

what type of slot does it have? I can't see the slotting from the picture but if a flathead won't work and a phillips won't work then is it a special type that you can see? If you can get a slightly better picture I could tell you a more exact answer....

I don't have a picture of the slot, as it is a little hard to see. When looking at it however, you can tell there is a small star shaped cog that you have to move left or right to move the headlight horizontally.

Ok, after talking with the dealers ("huh what are you talking about, you probably don't know what your doing."), I have concluded that either this isn't a common process or there are no special tools to preform this task.

With that being said, I found a way to accomplish the same goal; although a little more time consuming.

Process:
1. Remove the three LONG screws that hold on the horizontal white protective cover over the alignment screw. (This cover is on the back of the High Beam section)
2. manually rotate the wheel left and right to achieve desired location.
3. Drive around to make sure my lights are not all over the place.
4. Make modifications
5. Drive around some more
6. Reinstall the white cover

I found out why I was unable to move the screw with a flathead was because the alignment screw was rusted and needed a little shot of WD-40.

you can also adjust them by aiming the headlights at a wall. Park about 6 feet back and aim at the wall, you want your headlights beam to be center at a point approx. 3 feet up (if memory serves...) and facing straight forward. That's one of the easiest ways... Glad you got it fixed though!
