Heater Core Help PLEASE !
has anyone ever pulled out heater core in 90-93 accord if so please help !
|
I've never done that job but it does require major effort w/ dashboard removal, etc.
What is causing you to consider replacement? It is rare for heater core to fail. good luck |
was trying to replace heater hose and messed up the outlet on heater core ;( it's almost imposable to get to hose for removable between firewall & motor !
|
I was afraid of that. Those ends have to be split w/ a sharp razor knife to remove.
I would suggest you download a 90-93 Accord manual from Online Manuals post in DiY forum. I think there are several options. I've never done this job, so can't offer any advice beyond shop manual. I checked youtube and there are several "accord heater core replacement" videos. Check these out. I think yours will not be much different than this video. Here is Billy Jim Bob's version: good luck |
thanks but all these video's show everything already torn out I need something that shows me step by step ! what a bunch of crap just for 1 little part ! ...I cant find any links to down load a Honda Tech service Manual do you have one ?..

Here's the thread w/ links to manuals.
https://www.hondaaccordforum.com/for...-manuals-4597/ Try google searches. You may not find a "step by step". good luck |
thanks man im just going to have too bypass the core for now, I just don't feel comfortable doing this myself & every shop I call wants $600.00 or more to change a 50.00 part im just screwed for now ! Thanks for all your help.... Just way to technical for me ...
|
Actually $600 doesn't sound that unreasonable. I guess you saw how much disassembly of dash is req'd.
Any chance to rehabilitate your heater core ends? good luck |
I too have a damaged heater core tube, the previous owner managed to some how smash the end with a pliers or something so its oval shaped. Is it possible to fix this car is a 1992 lax well the body is any how...
|
The tube is thin brass material and easy to deform if you're trying to remove a heater hose.
You might try inserting needle nose pliers and carefully expanding to remove oval shape. If you get it pretty close you may be able to get a seal on hose end w/ help of some RTV sealant. good luck |
