I replaced my instrument cluster on my 1998 Accord EX with an 2002 accord cluster. Now my temperature indicator read hot all the time. Please any help would be appreciated. Everything work fine except the temp reading.
The reason I replaced the cluster was that the tach sticking and the fuel gauge is full all the time.

There is a difference in how the 98 accord and the 2002 accord controlled the coolant temperature gauge on the car. The 98 has a temperature sensor in the engine bay, while the 2002 uses the computer to control the gauge.

If this was my car, I'd swap the working parts from the 02 cluster to your original cluster, so your odometer readings are the same.

You can also swap the temperature gauge from your 98 cluster to your 02 cluster.

Watch some videos on how to disassemble the cluster on youtube, so you don't damage the components when disassembling.

Practice on the 98 cluster by removing the tach and fuel gauge, since they are broken anyway.

Would you know if the temp gauge control by the main computer or in the cluster?
Between 1998 -2002, what year Honda switch over to computer control on the temp.

The 98-99 used the temperature sending unit it the engine bay and the 00-02 used the main engine computer as the source. The wiring diagram of the cluster shows a coolant temp drive circuit in the 00-02, where the 98-99 doesn't.

You best chance at getting everything to work properly is to swap the components from the 02 cluster to your original cluster.

I suggest trying this on the original cluster first, because it looks like the fuel and temperature gauge are one unit, but I am not completely sure. If this is like the older accords, you will remove the back cover and there are likely four screws holding in each gauge.
