Help bleeding the coolant system...

I have read on several threads here that bleeding the coolant system may fix my surging idle problem. the guy I bought it from recently added or drained and refilled the coolant.

Is it completly necessary to do it with the radiator cap off? I tried that and the coolant only bubbled out the filler hole and never came out of the bleeder valve. when I put the cap back on, it squirts out the bleeder valve when the engine revs down and stops when the engine revs up??

It does this forever. How long does this process usually take until you get a steady stream from the bleeder?

Thanks guys, this is driving me crazy...

Search for zUpXgAJ1gjU on YouTube for an excellent video on how to fill and bleed the coolant.

Apparently this is done with the engine NOT running then? I was trying it with the engine running.

adding to PAHonda's link, Bubbles in Coolant - YouTube

This video shows that you have a problem when bubbles does not stop coming out while bleeding air out of coolant.

Dune, can you clarify what you meant by air bubbles only come out in the filler hole? Do the bubbles stop coming out or is it non-stop?

If it is non-stop then you have a leak somewhere in the cooling system.
