Default 02 accord v6

charging problem here. new alternator and battery. the eld is getting system voltage in and ground is good. but the green/black is at 3.3 volts which is commanding the charging system to shut down. I have not seen any issues with a eld in many years. it should be about 1.5 to charge up to 2 volts. do not want to throw parts at this 200 thousand mile antique lol. any clues from yall. and thanks.

Moved your posts to a new thread, because multiple problems on one thread is confusing.

Does the battery light on the dash turn on when you turn the key to the II position, but do not start the car?

Does that same battery light turn on when the engine is running?

the light stays on until you unplug the alternator. plus other dash lights appear. but unplug the 4 prong plug and all goes away. still wont charge.

Measure voltage on the blk/yel wire in the 4-pin alternator connector with the key in the II position, but engine doesn't have to be running. Use a bare metal bolt on the valve cover or the - battery post as your ground on your volt meter.

Does the blk/yel have 12V?

Just to be thorough, what is the voltage across the battery terminals when the engine is running and everything plugged in?

12.5 across the terminals. And black and yellow wire has battery voltage. Sent the alternator to a shop we use to have checked. It is a reman and I have seen them bad out of the box before. I am a mechanic but this I have not seen this issue before lol. Most cases its a simple issue.

Sorry for the details. Members have different skill levels, so I just make sure I cover all the details.

The next step in the manual was to replace the alternator.

One other test you can try is to back-probe that blk/yel wire and measure voltage with the alternator plugged in. You should still be close to 12V if the wire is passing enough current.

aint no issue. boss likes us to check forums and look for similar issues and compare notes. appreciate yalls help. when I get the alternator back will let you know what I find. I have read pages and pages on here with similar issues but none coincide with what I have lol.
