help please. Replacing wheel bearing?
 

Hello i have a 04 accord and was wondering if any of you guys done front wheel bearing on it or can provide instructions on how to do the job. Thank you.

You need a press. What I would do is remove the steering knuckle with the hub & bearing still in it - carry that to a shop for them to press out the bearing & press in the new one. Some of the shops that sell bearings might have the press to do that.

You may want to also do the brake rotors at this time as they require the wheel bearings to be removed from the hub to replace them. I would also suggest replacing the four bolts (with OEM Honda) that hold the rotor on and check the condition of the studs for the lug nuts. If you do a search the wheel bearing replacement has been covered quite a bit and you may want to take a look in the manual.

The one mistake people make is getting the ball joint and tie rods studs out of the steering knuckle without tearing the boots for the joint. I suggest using a hammer on steering knuckle surrounding the joint after putting the nut back on to protect the threads if you miss. It works well but takes some strong hits.

2004 (actually beginning 1998+) the bearings don't have to be removed to get the rotor off. Beginning 1998 the Accord has normal rotors just like any other sane car.

For the ball joints, I've had good luck using a small gear puller. With some force on the gear puller, you don't have to beat on the knuckle so hard.
