Default Help! single clunk when turning right

I have a 1992 honda accord ex. When stationary and I turn the wheel to the right, I hear a single clunk. No noise when I turn to the left and no noise when it is on jack stands. Only happens if on the ground and I turn the wheel to the right.

Any help is appreciated?

Does it happen when the car is moving slowly? Walking speed in an empty parking lot? How about when the car is moving faster?

it does happen when moving slowly or stationary (just turning the wheel). Probably when going faster but I don't hear it. When it is on the lift (suspended) it does not make noise.

Have you looked at the CV joint boots? Once the boot is torn, the grease slings out and the joint will make noise on a turn.

Typically an outer boot/joint

the cv boots are good. it is only one "clunk" when I turn to the right. It is not a repeated "click" which could indicate cv boot or axel.

Lower strut bar maybe? Mine came loose and were hard to pinpoint.

finally took it to a mechanic and was told it was the steering rack. Replacing it this weekend. Thanks for the input.

rack bushings wear out and allow the rack to "shift". Personally, if the rack is not leaking....how is is bad? And then I'd like to know how the rack being back makes a "clunk", I always like to learn new things.
