High pitched whistling noise

I'm having problems with my 05 Honda Accord EX Coupe.
Manual stickshift 2.4L 4 cylinder.
It's got 33000 miles on it.
My car is making a very high pitched fingernails on blackboard noise, or a high pitch whistling noise, a continuous beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep that increases in pitch and volume with RPM.

Noise is present when:
-Driving anywhere above 30 mph and the pitch gets higher and the noise louder as I pick up the speed.
-The noise is present when I'm in any gear going at a speed higher than 30 mph (for example cruising down the highway at 65) or accelerating from 30mph (for example while accelerating from 30 mph to 65 mph or accelerating at any speed above 30mph).
-It's the loudest when the RPM's around 2000-2750. It's also the worst when I'm driving uphill, but it's still there when driving downhill.
-It's continuous and doesn't go away over time (even after hours on the road).
-It's somewhat faint but I can definitely hear it, on a noise scale of 1 to 10 I'd say a 2 or 3.

Noise chirps temporarily when:

Sometimes it chirps when the road condition changes and I go over soft bumps but it'd come right on a level road.

Noise goes away when:
-The noise goes away completely when I push down on the clutch and cruise on neutral while moving at any speed. But it comes right back when I release the clutch and engage.
-The noise dies down a lot (but not completely) when I let go of the gas

The noise doesn't change in pitch or volume with the change in audio volume.

Would anyone know what is making the noise and how much it would cost to fix it?

Thanks.[/align]

RE: High pitched whistling noise

Try turning the power off on the radio. Sounds like you need a big 3 upgrade (costs around $30).

is the noise coming from the engine bay or your car's speakers?

It's not coming from the speakers, it's coming from under the hood. The noise is present with the radio off.

then it's likely a pump or alternator. Start the car and pop the hood to find the source. rev the engine with the throttle body to help make the whine change pitch to verify the source. also, check your fluid levels. Low power steering fluid can cause a whine. I'd imagine the same is true for any of the other hydraulic systems.

With something that high pitched I suspect some type of pulley. Pop the hood and see if you can tell us where the noise is coming from.

Go to Sears and pick up a mechanics stethoscope, I love those things, you will find the noise, I promise, pull the metal rod and diaphram to listen to vacuum leaks and such and use the metal probe to listen to bearings and such.

Don't do anything EXCEPT to take it back to the dealer and have deal with it ,,,,car is still fully under warranty..
