Hitachi Distributor Internal Seal

Im not sure if anyone has found this before or not, but after doing a lot of ebaying, i found a seller that has the internal seal and the outer oring for about $10

I just noticed your post from a week ago. I too had a similar problem several months ago. Check the photos I posted on 10-30-2012 under PHOTOS. So far, the oil leak into the distributor has stopped. Jim

Those photos and comments should be part of a DIY. It would have helped out someone who posted on this problem a few weeks ago.

From what i saw in the pics it looks as though you changed the outer oring. the only way to get to the inner oring is to get that pin out on the outer side. I took my dist off recently and replaced the outer oring but was unable to get that pesky pin to come out so i was unable to replace the inner ring even though i have one laying around

Firefighter, look at his pics again:

I drove the pin out with a 1/8" pin punch cradling the gear in a notch cut in a 2X4 held in a vise. It is tight! 5/32" punch with a heavy hammer would work better than what I used.
Do not pull or turn the shaft bushing like I did! (Added by grannie613 on 10-30-2012 07:23 PM)
There's more. The pics and verbiage should be in the DIY section.

I just looked at that photo album.

Grannie, if you write up the steps, with those photos, as the next couple postings in this thread, I can move them over into the DIY section. (any moderator can do that).

I just moved it over to DIY-Answers. Thanks for the write-up.
